On 3 November, the National Institution for Human Rights in Libya condemned the content being pub lished across various Libyan advertising platforms directed against immigrants and immigrant workers. The organization said that the calls for the dismissal of foreign workers carry a message that incites discrimination, hatred and hostility, and constitute a gross violation of the rights of foreigners present on Libyan lands. The organization acknowledged the necessity to regulate the presence of foreign workers, arrivals and immigration on Libyan lands, by legal and humanitarian methods.
This follows reports of the indiscriminate arrests of Nigerians in Libya after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) issued sanctions against the Libyan Football Association over the treatment of the Nigerian team. However, on 4 November, the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reassured Nigerians that citizens in Libya are safe and denied the reports of mass arrests.
