On 31 July, Ali Wali, spokesman for the 19th Brigade of the Libyan Border Guard, said that efforts to prevent smuggling and ensure full control of the entire border route with Tunisia have been massively increased. A Joint Coordination Room was established to better coordinate the operation with the Border Guard Agency of the MoI to counter the escalating migration crisis. There has been no ongoing communication with Tunisian authorities, who continuously send migrants across the border. Women and children who are apprehended are turned over to the appropriate Libyan authorities and cared for accordingly. Border Guard patrols have found a total of six unidentified bodies of African migrants near the border with Tunisia.
