On 7 April, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution calling for Russia to be suspended from the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), with Libya being a member of the two-third majority (93) who voted in favour of the resolution. 24 members voted against the resolution, including Russia, China, North Korea, Cuba, Syria and Vietnam, with 58 abstaining. Following Libya’s vote, the Spanish and Ukrainian embassies in Tripoli issued statements of support for Libya’s decision.
