On 26 February, a leaked report initially published by Russia Today and attributed to the Attorney General’s Office circulated on social media alleging the involvement of two agents linked to French intelligence in the assassination of Saif al-Islam Qadhafi in Zintan. The document identifies the two suspects as Jean-Marc Alain Dubois (47), a former member of the French naval special forces and Philippe Romain Moreau (43), an individual who entered the country under the guise of a ‘journalist’ to cover the event. They allegedly arrived in Libya 48 hours before the attack and left shortly afterward.

On 27 February, the French Embassy to Libya shared a post by ‘French Response’ (the official response account of the French MFA) ridiculing the claims.
