On 15 January, Italian media reported on a series of logistical issues associated with Italy’s Bilateral Mission of Assistance and Support in Libya (MIASIT), in particular, at the field hospital in Misrata. An Italian Senator, Patrizio La Pietra, claimed that Libyan authorities were delaying the granting of travel visas to members of MIASIT and that on 5 and 11 January two flights to rotate Italian forces stationed in Misrata had been inexplicably postponed by Libyans. He also claimed that unidentified Libyans had entered an Italian base and had proceeded to post photos of vehicles and arms on social media.
