On 18 August, the House of Representatives (HoR) held an official session chaired by the Speaker Aqeela Saleh, in the presence of First Deputy Speaker Fawzi al-Nuwairi and Second Deputy Speaker Misbah Douma. According to the HoR, the session voted unanimously to assign Lieutenant General Abdul Razzaq al-Nadhouri as a National Security Advisor. The HoR then voted to appoint Khaled Haftar as Chief of General Staff of the Libyan National Army (LNA), the position that al-Nadhouri had previously held.
The HoR also discussed and unanimously adopted a proposal submitted by more than seventy members to amend Law No. (1) of 2015 regarding changing the powers of the leadership levels in the Libyan army. The decision, issued by Khalifa Haftar and endorsed by the HoR, establishes the position of ‘Deputy General Command,’ to which Saddam Haftar was appointed last week.
On 19 August, the HoR officially swore in al-Nadhouri as a National Security Advisor. This was presented as a promotion for al-Nadhouri.
