On 14 September, Libyan National Army (LNA) Tariq Bin Zayed (TBZ) Special Task Force, following orders from Saddam Haftar, led an assault against Chadian fighters from the Front for Change and Concord in Chad (FACT) south of Tmassah near Torbu in the valleys in the Murzuq Basin. FACT released a statement claiming that it had engaged in fighting with the LNA’s TBZ, Sudanese mercenaries and French forces. Russian MIG fighter jets, suspected of being flown by Russian Private Military Contractors (PMCs) have been observed supporting the LNA forces by targeting FACT forces who have sought to shoot them down. There are also claims that French aerial capabilities have been observed in the area.
