On 12 April, Libyan National Army (LNA) Commander Khalifa Haftar, accompanied by Hammad, the Chief of Staff of the Security Units Khaled Haftar and other high-level LNA figures, conducted an inspection tour of the LNA’s new military city, located near Benghazi, to review the progress of construction work. Hammad praised the importance of the project, emphasizing its significant role in promoting security and stability in the country, and in improving security readiness and supporting and developing military capabilities. The military city appears to be located around 60km SW of Benghazi on the seafront. The project has generated some criticism given the amount of resources and funds being directed into building a military city rather than improving key infrastructure such as hospitals and universities.
