On 28 June, US Africa Command (AFRICOM) commander Michael Langely and the US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Charles Brown met with Libyan Army CoS Muhammed al-Haddad and Libya National Army (LNA) CoS Abdurrazaq al-Nadhouri at the 2024 African Chiefs of Defence Conference in Gaborone, Botswana. AFRICOM said that the US ‘fully supports Libyan-led solutions to unify Libya’s military and ensure Libyan sovereignty. We reaffirm our commitment to growing U.S.-Libyan security cooperation with professional Libyan military officers across all regions to build a stable, unified Libya for the Libyan people.’
