On 23 July, Greek PM Kyriakos Mitsotakis stressed during an interview with Skai TV that Greece will not tolerate illegal mass migration. He said it will do everything in its power to prevent it within the framework of international law.

A first group of Libyan National Army (LNA) personnel is expected to arrive in Greece soon to begin specialized training in dealing with illegal migration. An agreement was reached during the 6 July meeting between Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Gerapetritis and LNA Commander Khalifa Haftar. Gerapetritis has offered to train the eastern Libyan coast guard in maritime boarding operations, including VBSS (Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure) of ships training, as well as in maritime search & rescue operations. Additionally, Haftar has asked Greece to assist with repairing aging coast guard vessels and to provide multipurpose land vehicles capable of patrolling Libya’s extensive borders with Egypt and Sudan, where many migrants attempt to cross into the country. Both will be likely provided.
