On 13 August, Muammar al-Dhawi, commander of the 55 Brigade (Wershefana), mediated a meeting in Janzour between Government of National Unity (GNU) National Security Advisor Ibrahim Dabaiba and Zawiyyan militia leader Muhammed Bahroun aka al-Far. The two men reportedly agreed a tentative agreement to end the current tensions and shook hands.
It remains unclear who was behind the Zawiyya drone strikes and what their motivation was.
