On 23 October, the Government of National Unity (GNU) Ministry of Labour and Rehabilitation launched its Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) initiative, the National Project for the Rehabilitation and Reintegration, in Tripoli. GNU Prime Minister, Abdul Hameed Dabaiba, presided over the launch, which was attended by a number of GNU Ministers, the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), Sadiq al-Kabir, and foreign ambassadors. The initiative carried the slogan ‘With rehabilitation and work, we contribute to the return of life’ and will target civilians associated with armed groups, whether that be in a combat role or those offering logistical support. The project will train and qualify former armed group members so that they are able to integrate into the labour market.
