Later the same day, the GNU Ministry of Interior held an emergency meeting with several security leaders including the head of the Jafara Security Directorate, the Commander of the 55 (Wershefana) Battalion and the head of the Wershefana Social Council. The Al-Swani Police Station began investigating the incident, in preparation for referring the file to the Attorney General. Forces aligned with GNU Deputy Minister of Defence Abdussalam al-Zoubi reportedly deployed to the area.
