On 16 September, the Ministry of Local Governance in Osama Hammad’s Government of National Stability (GNS) suspended 12 southern municipality mayors over their participation in a meeting with the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) and other Government of National Unity (GNU) ministries in Tripoli.
The mayors issued a joint video statement condemning the measure and requesting the immediate lifting of the suspension. The statement reiterated that they are only concerned with service delivery and are far away from any political divisions. They also demanded fairer treatment for Fezzan, with dignity and according to the will of its own voters.
