On 17 April, the Government of National Stability (GNS) expressed concerns over the situation in Khartoum as fierce clashes between Sudan’s army and paramilitary forces continued to escalate. In a statement by its Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the GNS urged all Sudanese actors to resume negotiations and ‘put an immediate end to the bloodshed’ in order to maintain the ‘sovereignty and unity of Sudan’. The statement also supported the Arab League’s call to end all military operations and return to the negotiations table.
