On 6 September, the former head of the Government of National Unity (GNU) Ministry of Oil and Gas (MoOG), and former Chairman of the Zueitina Oil Company, Muhammed Aoun, was temporarily detained at Mitiga airport in execution of a previous in-absentia ruling issued against him. Aoun was released the following day.
On 7 September, Aoun explained in a statement to Al-Masar TV that before the ruling was issued, he had not been summoned to appear before any judicial or regulatory body, nor was his testimony heard. Aoun affirmed his confidence that he has committed no wrongdoing against the nation, stressing his readiness to accept the verdict.
