On 15 March, families of detainees held at the Mitiga Reform and Rehabilitation Institution in Tripoli staged a protest outside the offices of the attorney general and the Presidential Council, calling for the implementation of court-ordered releases and respect for their relatives’ legal rights. The demonstrators urged authorities to enforce release orders issued by both civilian and military courts, speed up legal proceedings and ensure detainees are brought before prosecutors and courts within legally mandated timeframes. Some participants also voiced concern over reports that several detainees had begun a hunger strike in protest at alleged ill-treatment, and called for regular family visits and humane conditions inside the facility.
