On 12 May, the ‘Movement for Correcting the Course of Great Zawiyya’ demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Abdul Hameed Dabaiba and Presidential Council (PC) head Muhammed al-Menfi, accusing them of ‘flimsy’ promises. In a statement, the ‘Movement’ said that even at a time when Zawiyya is descending into chaos, violence and crime, the Government of National Unity and the PC are not interested in the city. They claimed the spread of crime and corruption is mainly due to the weakness of the government, which they said also funds the armed gangs.
