In the Government of National Unity (GNU) cabinet meeting on 19 October, Prime Minister Abdul Hameed Dabaiba called for the Attorney General to ‘open a comprehensive investigation into Benghazi’s experience of deliberate interruption of communications and Internet’, which caused the ‘complete isolation of the city from the world’. He described this as a ‘dangerous development in isolating cities and the use of force against the people in crowded residential neighborhoods.’
On 24 October, reports emerged indicating that the Libyan National Army (LNA) had handed over to the Barghathi tribe five bodies belonging to Mahdi al-Barghati’s family and companions, including his son Ibrahim. Although Mahdi al-Barghati is believed to be dead, this has not been officially confirmed by the LNA.
