On 10 January, the Misrata Heart Centre announced that PM Abdul Hameed Dabaiba is in stable condition after receiving medical care and is preparing to leave the facility. Although officials described the procedure as minor, a government source disclosed that he had undergone cardiac catheterization on the evening of 9 January during which three stents were implanted following a sudden health scare and suspected heart attack. A series of official statements sought to reassure the public, confirming that Dabaiba’s condition is under control and that he has continued his duties. The Government of National Unity (GNU) denied reports that Dabaiba intended to travel to Germany for follow up treatment.
However, on 11 January, Minister of State for Political Affairs and Communication Walid al-Lafi, a close confidant of the PM, chaired a ministerial meeting at the PM Office instead of Dabaiba.
