Dabaiba and Menfi receive Turkish chief of staff in Tripoli

On 14 July, Government on National Unity (GNU) Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Abdul Hameed Dabaiba received the Chief of Staff (CoS) of the Turkish Army Metin Gurak and his accompanying delegation. The meeting was attended by the CoS the Libyan Army, Muhammed al-Haddad, his deputy Salaheddin al-Namroush, and several MoD figures. The participants discussed cooperation programmes between the two countries’ chiefs of staff, and a number of training programmes and joint military manoeuvres between the two countries’ defence ministries. Gorak conveyed a message from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in which he stressed the historical relations between the two countries and the efforts to develop them in all fields, most importantly the military and security fields. Presidential Council head and Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army Muhammed al-Menfi also received Gurak and his delegation, alongside Haddad, with military cooperation being discussed.
