On 16 – 17 November, sources reported clashes in the Awlad Essa area of Wershefana between Muammar al-Dhawi’s 55 Battalion and forces linked to the 111 Brigade, commanded by Government of National Unity (GNU) Deputy Minister of Defence Abdussalam Zoubi. They reportedly occurred after the forces linked to Zoubi entered the area controlled by al-Dhawi, which prompted the latter’s forces to open fire on these patrols. Zoubi’s forces had reportedly been planning to try to storm al-Dhawi’s headquarters. Al-Dhawi’s forces reportedly forced Zoubi’s forces out but the situation remains tense as of 18 November.
