On 10 April, the Audit Bureau sent a letter to the Government of National Unity (GNU) Ministry of Finance approving the payment of Libyan National Army (LNA) salaries for January and February 2022. LNA spokesman Ahmed Mismari claimed that the GNU Ministry of Finance had instructed the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) to pay LNA salaries at the end of March, but the CBL has referred to the transaction to the Audit Bureau, which according to Mismari had ‘obstructed’ the process. He added that on 3 April, the Audit Bureau had received a letter from the CBL regarding the payment of LNA salaries, but had ignored it. In his comments, Mismari implied that the Audit Bureau approved the payment of salaries following the statement made by the LNA aligned members of the 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC) on 9 April.
