444 Brigade raids human trafficking compound in Bani Walid

On 9 April, the Tripoli-based 444 Brigade announced that it had conducted a security operation against a human trafficking compound in Bani Walid, releasing 195 people of Egyptian, Sudanese, Nigerian, Ethiopian, and Eritrean nationality who had been held for ransom by human trafficking gangs. Among the detained were twenty-three women and two children. According to the 444 Brigade, the detainees were tortured, starved, and raped. Nine members of the trafficking gang, including its leader, were reportedly arrested.
