Attempted assassination of Deputy Prime Minister near Ajalat

On 2 January, an armed man is reported to have fired upon the Government of National Unity (GNU) Deputy Prime Minister Ramadan Ahmed Boujeneh, while he was travelling through Ajilat, a small town west of Tripoli. Boujneh is reported to not have been injured. The assailant’s sibling is reported to have been injured when Boujeneh’s security entourage returned fire. The ensuing tensions were reportedly settled soon after the incident.
