On 26 November shortly after midnight, a member of one of the militias of Muhammed Bahroun aka al-Far was shot and killed on al-Daman street in central Zawiyya. The assailants belong to the Nasr Brigade led by Muhammad Koshlaf aka al-Qasseb.
On 26 November in the morning, a young man, Mabrouk Abdulhamid al-Azraq, was murdered by an armed group in the western Libyan city al-Jamail (8 km south of Zuwara). He was shot and died on the spot. Locals blocked the main road through the city in protest against the murder, with tensions high.
Subsequently, the 52nd Infantry Brigade, based in Zawiyya and commanded by Mahmoud Bin Rajab, deployed troops (with about 25 pick-ups and SUVs) to al-Jamail. In the late afternoon, the Counter Security Threats Agency – al-Jamail Branch announced that the murderer of al-Azraq had been detained and handed over to Attorney General’s office in the neighbouring town of Raqdalin to complete the investigation. The Agency said that it has stepped up its efforts to maintain security in al-Jamail. Security forces deployed in key areas of the city in cooperation with the Security Directorate and local notables and elders. Thereafter, the situation calmed down and the roadblocks were removed.
