On 12 March, the Government of National Unity (GNU) Minister of Interior Emad Trabelsi announced the launch of a security plan to secure Libya’s borders, ports and the desert to combat smuggling. On 13 March, the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency mobilised forces in Ben Ashour near downtown Tripoli to move against the GNU Ministry of Interior forces under Trabelsi.
