A Libyan air-force jet bombed two positions held by Islamist militants in Benghazi on 1 June. Ansar al-Sharia said that no one was hurt in the attack. Aircraft also targeted a palace that once belonged to Libya’s former ruling family (the Sanussi) in the western section of Benghazi. The attacks continued on 2 June as helicopters attacked Islamist strongholds, killing at least 18 people, reportedly including civilians.
