World media reported that Hafter made good on his threat to bomb the Benghazi port on Wednesday the 24th. The Operation Dignity leader had been warning the port authorities for some time that unless they heeded his calls to either close the port or to prevent ships carrying weapons and ammunition from entering, then his forces would attack. According to Colonel Suqour Al-Juroushi, the head of Haftar’s air force, the attacked happened but the plane had intentionally missed the quay in this attack. However, he threatened that any ship trying to deliver weapons or ammunition would be hit next time. It is quite possible that the attack is fictitious and merely another attempt by Haftar to use his words to project force where he is unable to uses his armaments. Hafter has long been concerned that the port was being used to deliver weapons supplies to the Benghazi Revolutionaries Shura Council, the umbrella body of Islamist brigades and forces that is leading the fight against Haftar.
