On 11 February, US AFRICOM Deputy Commander Lieutenant General John Brennan and the US Charge d’Affaires Jeremy Berndt met with the acting Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army Salaheddin al-Namroush in Tripoli. They discussed the US’ ongoing support for Libyan-led efforts to overcome internal divisions and unify military institutions, stressing that the US ‘remains committed to helping Libyans as they seek to professionalize security forces and achieve lasting peace and stability.’ Brennan also met with PM Dabaiba, discussing ways to strengthen U.S.-Libya cooperation and U.S. support for Libyan efforts to unify military institutions.
