On 15 January, the eastern Internal Security Agency (ISA) said that it had uncovered a mass grave containing the bodies of 21 people of various African nationalities, including men, women and children, at a farm around ten kilometres southeast of Ajdabiya. Other migrants were rescued from the location, many of whom showed signs of torture and mistreatment. Security officials arrested the owner of the farm.

UNHCR said, ‘The discovery of a mass grave following captivity and abuse is a painful reminder of the human cost of trafficking and exploitation.’
