On 14 August, Tubruq experienced a complete blackout which lasted through to the next day in many parts of the city due to an explosion at one of the feeder stations, as well as several other technical issues, which in turn resulted in the first gas unit at Tubruq power station going out of service.

On 17 August, the heads of the House of Representatives (HoR) monitoring committee, the energy and natural resources committee, and the planning, finance, and general budget agencies held a meeting to discuss the status of the electricity grid.

In its session on 18 August, the HoR discussed the electricity crisis that the country is going through and decided to refer it to the Energy and Natural Resources Committee which will meet with the Speaker, the Government of National Stability (GNS) Prime Minister, the GNS Minister of Electricity, and electricity sector experts to address the energy crisis. The Energy Committee will submit a detailed report to the HoR to take the necessary measures to end the electricity crisis in the country.
