Greek officials have said that 19,948 arrivals were confirmed via the so-called southern corridor from eastern Libya to southern Crete in 2025, a 400% increase from the 4,935 confirmed arrivals in 2024. In December alone, an estimated 3,000 migrants landed on Gavdos and Crete.
