On 24 May, a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) attack occurred on Jamal Abdel Nasser Street, close to the Tibesti Hotel, in Benghazi killing at least six people and wounded 22 others. The motives and the perpetrators remain unknown. No group has yet claimed the attack. Several foreign governments have condemned the incident and Libyan National Army (LNA) officials have linked the attack to the offensive in Derna.
On 25 May, Jamal Zahaoui, the commander of the LNA’s 21 Saiqa Brigade claimed to have survived an assassination attempt in Benghazi. Details of the perpetrators or the cause of the attack remain unknown.
On 28 May, the LNA Air force launching from Brak al-Shati claim to have struck multiple “Chadian militias” located south of Sebha and near Umm al-Aranib.
