On 1 August, the Special Deterrence Force (Rada) killed a man thought to be from the al-Burga militia near the Ispan roundabout in the Tajoura area of Tripoli. On 31 July, the al-Bugra militia set up checkpoints between the al-Andalusi and Ispan roundabouts on the Coastal road and arrested two people from the Souq al-Juma area.
On 2 August, it was reported that forces under Ghneiwa al-Kikli captured a clothes and textile factory in the Al-Hadba al-Badry area of Tripoli. It is thought that the group already held the factory and that the incident was in response to internal divisions. This follows a suspected assassination attempt in the area during the early hours of 31 July, when two unidentified assailants injured a man during a drive by shooting.
On 31 July, the Surman Criminal Investigations Department (CID) attempted to arrest three smugglers connected to the al-Nasr militia under Mohammed Kashlaf. While attempting to make the arrests fighting broke out that lead to the death of two of the three smugglers. The following day, on 1 August, al-Nasr militia attacked the headquarters of the Surman CID in response to incident the day before. The fighting resulted in six deaths and the coastal road being closed. On the 2 August, the Coastal road between Surman and Zawiyaah was reopened.
