On 28 November, the UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) reported that the UN Deputy Envoy for Political Affairs in Libya Raisedon Zenenga attended a workshop on ‘State Monopoly on Weapons in Libya’ organised by the Libyan Joint Operations Centre. According to UNSMIL, Zenenga highlighted the need for progressive steps to help weapons be brought under the control of the Libyan state and to be used in legitimate ways for security and to protect the rule of law. Zenenga also repeated UNSMIL’s support of Libyan-led efforts on Security Sector Reform (SSR), Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR), and the withdrawal of foreign forces and mercenaries.
