On 31 October, there were reports that Wagner fighters stationed at Brak al-Shatti airbase, around 300km south of al-Shuwayrif, were on high alert following the mobilisation of forces aligned with the Government of National Unity (GNU) to Ghariyan. They were reportedly conducting intensive aerial surveillance of the area between Brak al-Shatti and al-Shuwayrif.
