On 3 June, the UK Ambassador Martin Reynolds accompanied Vice Admiral Edward Ahlgren, Defence Senior Advisor to the Middle East and North Africa (DSAME) on his first visit to Eastern Libya focused on strengthening the UK-Libya partnership. During his visit to Benghazi, DSAME met separately with Khalifa Haftar and Saddam Haftar, reflecting on ‘the historic nature of the defence relationship and the importance of continued cooperation on shared security threats, including counter-terrorism and organised immigration crime.’ The British delegation also met with Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund (LDRF) head Belqassem Haftar and the National Development Agency (NDA) head.
