Turkish and Libyan intelligence officials meet in Tripoli

On 18 August, Turkey’s Deputy Head of Intelligence, Jamal al-Din Çalık, met with the Head of the Libyan Intelligence Service along with other north-western military and security leaders at the Sheraton hotel in Tripoli. The subject of the meetings is unclear, with conflicting reports of Turkey’s position and willingness to intervene in the posturing between pro-Government of National Unity (GNU) Prime Minister, Abdul Hameed Dabaiba, and pro-Government of National Stability (GNS) Prime Minister, Fathi Bashaagha, forces should conflict occur between the two.
