On 17 June, twelve Tunisian nationals were released after being detained for two days in the al-Mutrad area in western Zawiyya.
According to Mustapha Abdelkebir, head of the Tunisian Observatory for Human Rights, the individuals were stopped on a public road and held based on their nationality by relatives of Libyan nationals currently facing legal proceedings and detention in Tunisia. The incident was an attempt by the families to exert pressure on Tunisian authorities. The release, which included the return of the Tunisians’ vehicles and personal belongings, was achieved through joint coordination between Tunisian and Libyan security officials, alongside mediation by local elders.
