On 9 August, the interior ministers of Tunisia and Libya, Kamel Fekih and Emad Trabelsi, reached an agreement in Tunis to end the crisis at the common border and to care for migrants stranded in the border area. The two countries will each take half of the people currently stranded there. At the same time, surveillance of the mutual border will be intensified and better coordinated. The migrants taken by Libya will be transported to a camp in Tripoli. An approach to speed up the entry of Libyans into Tunisia at Ras Ajdir – Ben Guerdane, the main border crossing located on the coastal road, was also discussed.
