On 8 October, Minister of Interior Imad al-Trabelsi received his Tunisian counterpart, Khaled Nouri, in Tripoli for an official visit to advance bilateral security cooperation, strengthen joint coordination, and facilitate the exchange of expertise to support the stability and mutual interests of both nations.

A key discussion point was the situation at the official border crossing sites Ras Ajdir (LBY) – Ben Guerdane (TUN) on the coastal road and Wazin (LBY) – Dahiba (TUN) in the Jabal Nafusah mountains. A focus was placed on improving flow, reducing congestion, and streamlining border operations for citizens and commercial transit between the two nations. Operational hurdles and logistical bottlenecks faced by travelers on both sides of the border were addressed.

Regarding bilateral security coordination and intelligence sharing, the strengthening of joint security mechanisms to combat cross-border smuggling, organized crime, and irregular migration was discussed. It was decided to establish direct, real-time coordination channels between border security agencies and technical services. Finally, the status of Libyan and Tunisian expats was reviewed, covering administrative, security, and residency conditions for the Libyan community residing in Tunisia and Tunisians working in western Libya.

During the visit, Nouri joined al-Trabelsi to attend a ceremony commemorating the 62nd anniversary of Libyan Police Day in Tripoli.
