On 23 June, armed groups in Tajoura mobilised in eastern Tripoli and closed roads leading to Mitiga International Airport, including al-Shaat Road. Armed groups were reportedly protesting Rada’s release of Ali Drider from Mitiga Prison. Drider is understood to have been implicated in the killing of a senior commander of the Daman militia. The Government of National Unity (GNU) Prime Minister, Abdul Hameed Dabaiba, who having attended the cabinet meeting in Jadu had arrived in Tajoura that afternoon, was forced to leave by the protestors and unknown militias shot at his convoy. No injuries were reported.
