Suspected ISIS attack on LNA forces in Zillah

On 22 August, the Libyan National Army (LNA) aligned 128 Brigade was attacked by a suicide bomber identified as a Sudanese national at the Zillah gate/Zillah-Waddan road checkpoint near Jufra, 470 km south west of Tripoli. According to sources, the man drove the car towards the checkpoint on the road adjacent to the main road and came under fire from LNA forces. The man jumped from the vehicle and was shot, later dying in hospital due to his wounds. No other casualties were reported. The incident was within 200 meters of the Zillah petrol station. According to a statement made by LNA spokesperson Ahmed Mismari, the attack had the characteristics of an Islamic State attack. On 23 August, ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack.
