On 12 March, a young Libyan was reportedly beaten up and severely injured by a group of Sudanese migrants in Sabratha.
On 13 March in the morning, a young man from Sudan was found near one of the migrant workers residences in Sabratha with a bullet wound to his head. He was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment but died due to the injury. The migrant workers residence was raided the night before by a number of armed Libyan civilians. Some migrants were beaten up.
In the afternoon, after some investigations, the Sabratha Security Directorate arrested two young Libyans for murdering the Sudanese man and handed them over to the Attorney General. The weapon used in the crime, an AK-47 Kalashnikov assault rifle, was confiscated. One of those arrested is the brother of the man allegedly beaten up by Sudanese men the day before.
In the evening, a group of young Libyans clashed with black African migrants in Sabratha after one of the Africans was assaulted by the Libyans. The incident resulted in some minor injuries on both sides and damage to a number of cars.
On 14 and 15 March, a number of illegal migrants from various sub-Saharan African countries were arrested in a series of raids on illegal residential settlements by the Sabratha Security Directorate in cooperation with the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency.
