On 15 July, Libyan National Army (LNA) Deputy Commander Saddam Haftar travelled to Doha to offer his condolences. He was received by the Qatari Emir to convey both his personal condolences and those of his father, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, following the death of the Father Emir. The meeting was also attended by Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani. Official Qatari statements referred to Saddam Haftar only by his military rank without mentioning ‘Libya’ or his position in the LNA.
