On 7 August, the Syrian news network Suwayda 24 reported that a young man from As-Suwayda (southwestern Syria) was killed in Libya, alongside a Russian Wagner operative, after a landmine exploded in a military vehicle on 5 August. Several other Syrian fighters were wounded and they were subsequently transferred to hospital. The man in question had been recruited by Russian forces to fight in Libya. He was deployed two months ago from Hmeimim airbase (currently operated by Russia), having signed a contracted with Al-Sayad Company that works alongside Wagner to pursue Islamic State in Syria and to protect facilities controlled by Russia in Libya. He was screened by Russian forces in Jufrah.
