On 27 September, Abdul Halim Daboub, head of the Operations and Judicial Security Department in Zawiyya, was shot and wounded in an assassination attempt by unidentified gunmen on the Coastal Road in Zawiyya. He was rushed to a hospital where he was admitted to intensive care.
In the evening, the Department of Operations and Judicial Security confirmed the incident and said that investigations were underway to investigate the causes of the incident, while searching for the identity of the outlaws. Later in the evening, there were skirmishes between the Operations and Judicial Security Department and the militias of Mohamed al-Baroun aka al-Far, whose members reportedly carried out the assassination attempt.
The following day, the dead body of a young man was found in Jadda’im (east of Zawiyya) with signs of torture and gunshot wounds. He was kidnapped some days before by the militias of al-Far.
On 29 September, a member of the Libyan Army was subject to an assassination attempt in Zawiyya, while driving in his armoured car. He survived the gunfire without injuries.
The same day, some members of Muhammar al-Dhawi’s 55th Wershefana Brigade attacked the police station of al-Amiriya (southeast of Zawiyya in the Wershefana tribal areas) to free one of the members of the Brigade after he was arrested by the police.
