In her UNSC briefing on 19 February, Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo reiterated calls for a ‘full and transparent investigation’ into the recent assassination attempt against the Government of National Unity (GNU) Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Adel Jumaa.

On 20 February, US Special Envoy Norland and Charge d’Affaires Berndt visited Jumaa’s family in Tripoli, reiterating calls for a full investigation. Unusually, they posted a picture with his family, sparking various rumours about the reasons behind it.

On 25 February, PM Abdel Hameed Dabaiba received a phone call from the Attorney General al-Siddiq al-Sour, during which the AG informed him about the ongoing investigations into the attempted assassination of Adel Jumaa. Both sides stressed the importance of continued coordination between law enforcement and prosecution agencies to ensure justice is achieved and perpetrators are prosecuted, stressing the necessity to take all legal actions to account those involved in the incident.
