In Tripoli a number of Ottoman-era tombs were attacked and damaged by radical Islamist groups who see them as contradicting Salafi/Wahhabi principles about the uniqueness of God and the prohibition of worshipping idols. Fighting continues unabated in Benghazi, particularly in the port area and in the Suq al-Hout, Hawari, Buhdeima, Bu’atni, Laithi, Gamfouda, Gawarsha, Halees and al-Sabri districts.
